This is a 1950s Figural hummingbird brooch by the famed English jewelry company, Sphinx, founded in 1948. This bird brooch measures 3” from tip to tip and is covered on the front with faceted marcasites. The brooch is rhodium plated and there is a little wear to the plating on the back. Ther is an inset oval plaque on the reverse which is lightly stamped “SPHINX.” Also model number 16191 is stamped.
